Microplastics in mosquito

Some time ago, microplastic became one of the problems that attracted the attention of the world. Apparently, this microplastic problem is not only experienced by humans but also by mosquitoes.

Uniquely, mosquitoes are exposed to microplastics since they are larvae. In fact, they can carry the plastic to die.

Research conducted by experts at the University of Reading found that when mosquito larvae eat microplastic, it will remain in the body of mosquitoes to adulthood.

That means, this microplastic can be transferred to anything that might eat the mosquito, including birds and fishes.

This can happen because larvae cannot distinguish food from plastic at its age.
